About Susan

Hi, and thanks for visiting!

I think it’s nice to know a little about the person/the writer behind the story or the book you read, offering a sort of behind-the-scenes look into the writing of the book.  So here’s my story behind the writing of “I Will Be …”

Many authors will describe their childhood as reading book after book and dreaming of someday writing their own.  Nahhhh, that wasn’t me. I was the one with the crayons, markers, paint, scissors, glue and glitter, dreaming of being an artist. Nahhhh, that didn’t happen either.  But -

I do dabble in oils and acrylics on my own. (Maybe I’ll post some of my paintings on this site someday!)  Writing a children’s book was simply a thought I had when I was reading endlessly to my young daughter, realizing she epitomized the tried-and-true theme of many stories: Be Yourself.  Writing then became a dream and ultimately a goal as I watched her grow into a confident, self-assured young woman.  That thought-turned-dream-turned-goal is now a reality in “I Will Be …”

Life gets busy!  I worked a great corporate career for many many years, then got a Masters degree and a rewarding new career as a high school Guidance Counselor. It wasn't until I retired (and a pandemic) that I found time to pursue writing seriously. All in all, this book took over 20 years to complete; well worth the time and effort.

I am grateful to also be happy-busy with my large loving family, many tremendous friends, ballroom dancing, and painting as I mentioned earlier.

Playing off my title, this is me:

I Will Be ...  Happiest
  • With my grands (D, W, Bernie and lil G)

  • Lounging on our new patio

  • Cocktail in hand

  • With chocolate (lots of chocolate)

  • At Saratoga

  • When positive

  • In laughter

I Will Be ...  not so happy
  • In scary weather at night

  • If forced to eat fish, or mushrooms, or condiments

  • Around negative people
